Afternic – Another Hoax Sale
Once again, another domain has been listed on Afternic that has turned out to be a hoax. This time it was Auto.com. This domain was listed on Afternic, with a BIN price of only $10,000. Who in there right mind would pass this baby? A fellow NamePros member decided to take the gamble. He knew it was to good to be true…. and it was.
So how does Afternic react to these types of situations? They just pull the listing, no other information provided. Finally they responded to the thread on NamePros. Here is their response:
Hi,
We removed the listing from the site earlier today. Our customer service staff is working with the “seller” to eliminate the possibility of any more false listings.

As you noted, we did respond on NamePros. We also took the appropriate steps and responded directly with the client on April 17.
The integrity of the listings to the site is very important to us. Unfortuantely, this is a case whereas the person (seller) that listed auto.com did not own the name. As soon as this was brought to our attention, we immediately took action and took the listing down from the site.
All the best,

This is a shady, shady company. Don’t give them your credit card.
