As the only Ad-Hoc Development and Publishing Engine of its kind, Noomle.com is implementing mobile delivery into the value added propositions for Domain Name Owners.

In continuation of its well respected “no revenue share” model, Noomle.com is adding a fully automated browser detection platform to its services to address the ever growing popularity of mobile browsing. The incoming browser is automatically detected, while the Noomle engine delivers the correct format to the requesting device.

Opposing to traditional domain parking platforms, Noomle Mobile will continue to deliver unique, user created content through stock templates, with the implementation of Google Mobile Ads on top of the template. During the extensive open Beta testing, Noomle will offer an even traffic share between the domain name owner and the Noomle.com engine, where both parties stand to gain additional revenues, at no financial charge to the domain name owner.

There are 405 million mobile internet users worldwide, according to Internet research firm eMarketer, and within four years this number is expected to double. While the global economy is battling the ongoing recession, advertisers have by far and large revised their budgets and strategies. For the first time since conception of mainstream internet connectivity to American households, Internet advertising has seen a decline in Dollars spent on campaigns. In positive news, advertising spending on the mobile market has increased.

If you have domains at Yahoo, you should have recieved an email about the price increase. If not, then I suggest you turn off auto renew. Domains at Yahoo can auto renew, so you need to check your domains to make sure you don’t get billed $34.95. I don’t know how they expect to stay in the industry charging these obscene prices. But I guess if Register.com can do it, Yahoo can do it too. Transfer all your domains away from Yahoo so you don’t get stuck with this ridiculous renewal fee.

A new extension has been announced. The .TEL extension will launch in early December 2008. This extension could cause harm to .MOBI. It will be interesting to see how this extension will be adopted and used in comparison to .MOBI. The main idea behind the .TEL extension is:

Integration of any and all means of communication (i.e. Phone numbers, IM, VOIP, email, social media)

Real time publishing of your contact information on the Internet

Full ownership of your published data

Protection of your private data, only viewable by people you authorize

Simple structured navigation to easily reach the most relevant information

High speed global access optimized for mobile devices

Multi-language, search engine-friendly structured information and keywords

This new sponsored top level domain (sTLD) was recently announced at the ICANN meeting in Paris. Sunrise applications will start to be accepted on December 3, 2008. Landrush will open on February 3, 2009 and close on March 23, 2009. General public registration will open on March 24, 2009.

I don’t know who came up with this idea, but it seems to be a new trend of 2008. Several domainers came up with the idea to send your domain to auction by posting the starting bid at Sedo. Which seems ok when you first think about it. Now the topic of shill bidding arises. Lets take a look at the definition of shill bidding:

A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer.

Wouldn’t this technically be considered shill bidding? I think so. I’m also happy to know that Sedo doesn’t allow this type of activity. A recent post by Keith from Sedo on NamePros confirms that it is illegal. Will people stop? Of course not. Should they? We all know the answer to that one.

I wonder what long term effects this will have on the Sedo Marketplace…

Finally, a fresh new marketplace. I came across BQB.com, which stands for Better Quality Business. This is a auction site, similar to Afternic and Sedo, where you can list your domain names for sale. The best part about this website is that there are no fees. The only time you have to pay a fee is to add extra options to your listing – such as promotion on the front page or extra listing categories.

BQB.com will come to the front of domaining auction market because they are keeping quality in mind. They don’t want 700,000 members. They want quality over quantity. Each member that joins must go through a verification process, where you must submit at least 50 of your domains names that have public whois. The whois information must match the account information you created your account with. Now this will not make things, totally scam free, but it sure will help.

When creating an auciton, you are also allowed to select the payment type. There are many payment types to choose from including the major ones Escrow.com, Paypal, and MoneyBookers.

I’m really a fan of this new site. I really do think it will stick around. With just over 100 quality members in a few days since launch, this website will only continue to improve. Not to mention, they have already made dozens of sales. If you haven’t signed up yet, I encourage you to do so! Putting Bill as your referrer would also help.

Once again, another domain has been listed on Afternic that has turned out to be a hoax. This time it was Auto.com. This domain was listed on Afternic, with a BIN price of only $10,000. Who in there right mind would pass this baby? A fellow NamePros member decided to take the gamble. He knew it was to good to be true…. and it was.

So how does Afternic react to these types of situations? They just pull the listing, no other information provided. Finally they responded to the thread on NamePros. Here is their response:

Hi,

We removed the listing from the site earlier today. Our customer service staff is working with the “seller” to eliminate the possibility of any more false listings.

Adam Gross
Afternic

Way to go Afternic!

Our good friends at NamePros, have done it again. We reported to you in early 2007, that NamePros had passed 50,000 members. In just a little over a year, NamePros has doubled in size. Now if that is not impressive, I don’t know what is.

We have noticed several changes over at NamePros. They recently added a new Short Domain Discussion forum, which specializes in the discussion of domains with 5 characters or less. Primarily you’ll find a lot of talk about LLLL, LLLLL, and LLL domains, in all various extensions.

Another reason we like NamePros so much is because of the live auctions. Every 2 weeks, NamePros holds a live auction – right in their own chat room. This even attracts buyers, usually over 100, to bid on various lots. They come loaded with their wallets. Usually we see some pretty good sales. This past week was loaded with LLLL.coms and everyone can agree some bargains were made. Everyone can also agree that some great sales were made.

So if you haven’t joined NamePros, now is the time to do so! Next live auction will be on April 24th, at 6PM EST.

It’s just about that time again! Recently, ICANN announced that the .ME extension will be replacing the current .YU Sub domain extension. How did the .ME extension come upon us? In 2006, the country of Montenegro declared independence from Yugoslavia. Then ICANN gave them there own ccTLD. Well now that you know a new extension is in the works and on the way, don’t get to excited yet. Well, .ME isn’t for end users. And no were not joking. How is this? The current policy for .YU (Yugoslavia’s ccTLD) is very strict. The regulation policy for .YU states the following:

OR SUB-DOMAIN ASSIGNMENT UNDER TOP LEVEL DOMAIN OF YUGOSLAVIA (YU) (Last revised: 10-APR-2000)

2. REGULATIONS FOR DOMAIN ASSIGNMENT

Domain assignment and domain registration in the YU TLD table are FREE OF CHARGE AT ALL CONDITIONS, with the following restrictions:

* Only companies and organizations located in Yugoslavia are eligible to apply for a domain name.
* Individuals are not eligible to obtain a domain name.
* Only ONE domain per one registrant is allowed.
* Domain name is a public resource, registered to a company or an organization (registrant) stated in the part 2 of the domain application form. Once registered, a domain name can’t be taken over by another party. The domain name can’t be sold or leased to a third party.

Full policy can be seen here.

We can just hope that they won’t follow the regulations for the .ME extension. Many people have already voiced their comments and hope for a more open friendly policy. No one knows what the official word is yet.

People who are planning to jump on the bandwagon to landrush this extension might find this list of words ending in ME helpful:

http://www.morewords.com/ends-with/me

Get ready to register those domain hacks! We will keep you up to date on all news related to the .ME extension, so check back here regularly for updates! Head on over to NamePros and discuss the .ME extension.
