The Future Is Now
Well, look at that – time has flown by. I haven’t checked in on this blog in well over a decade. Over the past decade, I’ve fallen out of the domaining world. Back in the mid to late 2000’s, we really saw domains taking off. However, we have not seen that energy since. Large communities surrounding web development and domains have almost vanished and are now playgrounds for spammers to run wild. Where does the domain industry go from here? Has the internet grown bored of the expansion of numerous extensions?
Future For Domaining?
The future for domains is not looking to bright, in my opinion. Nothing has really turned any heads over the past year. If you take a look 4-5 years ago, there were so many different events going on within the world of domains. New extensions were on the rise… remember .mobi? Just think about how many companies you .mobi for their mobile website. The answer? Close to none, from what I’ve seen. That had to be one of the biggest flops. I’d like your feedback as well to see what you think!
No Porn For You
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has delayed yet another critical vote on the creation of a long-awaited .xxx domain.
The vote – which has been postponed until June 2010 – will reportedly follow the formulation of a document that outlines various options available to the organization.
